Poem to be read in the middle of the night (v)
We never plan to leave. Even with no pretense
to stay, a moment washes over me that I could
be dead this moment, and of what I would not
have the moment to question, only gone,
leaving behind a family and world unprepared
to master day and hour and mortality, not
by me at any rate. Teeth in, fears bared,
no held breath barred, I breathe a bit longer.
“Teeth in, fears bared,” indeed! Been there, and it’s disconcerting, to say the least. Fantastic poem.
Love reading your work my friend.
Thanks Kevin. I’m glad to see you here.
This is beautiful and raw, love it ❤
Thank you.
I have those moments often. In my mind I usually say – not quite ready yet, let me finish this, a little more time please….
Oh yeah.
We missed a fullmoonsocial, didn’t we? I saw a lovely moon the night before, and this morning after it was all over. One waxing, one waining. There is always next month ^_^
Reading in the middle of this night, thanks Jeff 🙂
Perfect timing.
