The Present
O star you should have known
not even your memory will eclipse you
No distance will establish a shadow
between this heart and yours
The light that comes back to me
from something larger—is it
not my own joy which without you
I would never know?
Absolutely perfect final lines for me to read tonight before I finally declare it time to turn off the tablet and go to sleep. Thanks again for hosting this party; it was the next best thing to traveling back to the Tang Dynasty and trading verses over wine. 🙂
Thanks for being part of it, Sunshine, and thank you for your kind words about this poem.
Joy, the light that returns… I agree with Sunshine, what a great way to cap off a great series of poems
Beautiful!
Thank you sir. It felt good to write this one at the end of a very cool evening.
