Late Afternoon Storm Haiku
[Wilmington, NC]
Storm fells big branches
while gossamer lines linger—
the strand between us
*
Long after strong rain
moves on, forgotten, moss on
branches remembers
*
Light flickers inside and out.
Dove on shed roof hears
a thousand unseen frogs
*
The day starts again
hours before dusk. In sunlight
palmetto fronds drip.
Yay! Haiku! Nice, Jeff. The last one, especially, resonates with me.
Thanks Emily. Picked up a Dover book of haiku from used bookstore today and have been enjoying it immensely. Hard to shake that frame of mind.
So true. I read some Shih Te last eve, and it woke something in me. Kept me awake most of the night, writing, in fact!
Oh my goodness, I love this 🙂
Thanks, from a master that means a good bit.
Haha didn’t someone say always the student, never the master? You are far too kind 🙂
Beautifully crafted haiku, Jeff.
Many thanks. Plus a thousand unseen ones, for your own work.
